The pink monkey story
The Pink Monkey Company was established in February 2007 by myself Ruth Summers as a sister company to my husbands business John Summers Limited. John is primarily a consultant pattern grader for the shoe trade and utilises laser technology for cutting patterns in acrylic. In recent years he has branched out significantly into other laser cutting and engraving services specialising in wood, acrylic and leather etc. However, I saw a potential for producing quality laser cut, engraved and hand finished giftware, specialising in leather and acrylic along with a quality online gift shop.
In October 2007, our daughter Dr. Jodie Nikel joined my company to help The Pink Monkey Company expand into an unusual & funky, yet quality and sophisticated giftware store. Jodie is not with the company at the moment as she is a very busy stay at home mum bringing up two of our beautiful grandchildren. I am still very much a family run business and prides myself on good customer service and high product standards. My origins began by producing personalised items for individuals, whilst developing my own gift related products. As my initial products (quality leather bookmarks and Christmas tree decorations) took off in June 2008 I realised that there was a market for ideas along with a service for personalised gifts. Coupled with this I also felt strongly that despite buying online, a customer should still feel they have had a personal touch to their purchase when their goods arrived with them. Hence I take packaging or gift wrapping seriously.
As I also had a long history in buying and selling quality small vintage / antique items, with a particular interest in vintage jewellery. These items now also form part of The Pink Monkey Company online gift shop. Hence, the products that The Pink Monkey Company manufactures are now complimented by the vintage jewellery and vintage gifts, widening the choice of unusual and quality gifts that can be purchased from our shop.
